This year the sponsored walk will be at the SilverHill Trail on Saturday the 23rd June possibly followed by a "Chilli Cookoff" at the Welfare.

Christmas 2011
It was a busy time for Shirland over the Christmas period and thanks to everyones hard work we raised over £1500 for band funds
Slow Melody and Pizza
Friday 9th September saw a packed house for possibly the worlds first slow melody and pizza night at the Welfare
Welcome to the new 2011 web home of Shirland Welfare Band from our base in Shirland, near Alfreton, Derbyshire.
The present band was formed in 1998, although a band of one form or another has existed in Shirland since the 1880's. The band has won many prizes in competitions in recent years and the senior band is currently in the Midlands first section, after becoming second section champions in 2009.
Shirland has a very active youth policy and runs a training band that performs in both concerts and competitions. Players regularly progress from the junior band into the seniors and many players have also gone on to play with the National Youth Brass Band and National Youth Orchestra.
